SoulMate, A Myth Or Reality

Soulmate, a myth - reality or just a romantic fad!

We hear, read and think so much about "Soulmate" that at times it becomes a sort of obsession with us. Some people are of the view that soulmate is just a much hyped term propagated by those who can't find a perfect partner in life. It is more of a romantic, new age myth.

There is no defined explanation about a soulmate but I find this Greek myth very fascinating. According to this myth God had made human beings with four arms, four legs, and two faces coming out of a single head. Later Zeus feared that this so called human could become more powerful than Him over the period of time. Thus He split the human in two parts, condemning both parts to keep looking for the other half. This concept of having two individuals as being part of one soul can be considered nearest to the theory of "Soulmates".

There is so much being written on "Soulmates" in books and internet is full of numerous stories about people looking for and finding soulmates. But the thing that makes me wonder is if Soulmate is just a myth or a reality? Personally speaking something in me pokes me to believe this concept of everyone having a twin soul somewhere.

Who can be your soulmate?

A general perception is that soulmates are either lovers or a couple, but I refuse to accept this idea as soul cannot be bound in physical relationships. They are long lost souls, just souls not male or female bodies looking for each other to make love. Yes, love is there but of a very exalted level.

Your soulmate can be your best friend, your family member or even your teacher. It is all about a soul reaching to a connected one after identifying the connection.

I have a friend who met a boy of her age in one of the formal work environments. According to her when she saw him for the first time, she felt a kind of weird connection with him, as if she had met him before. That feeling so weird that she took first step to introduce herself to him. You might like to call it just a deja vu or love at first sight kind of a thing but I told her that she had found her “soul mate”. Over the period of my stay with these two individuals, I could clearly see that the way they clicked was nothing more than an instant recognition of the creation of God split apart by Zeus damned to look for each other.

Were they in love?

I can’t say and I am sure even they never thought on those terms.

Did they spend each and every moment together?

No, not at all as both had two different worlds to live in, which hardly connected their paths with each other.

They had their own dreams, ambitions, and one thing that made me sure of their being soul mates was because I always found them as two different aspects of one personality. I believe that all of us have a masculine as well as a feminine part of our personality. These two individuals were just like those two forms of one personality in two different physical bodies. I could always see that instant chemistry of souls whenever they were with each other.

They didn’t have to ask for one another’s likes or dislikes (it never occurred to them to discover each other) they just knew what other wanted. It was a “sublime relationship”, if I have to define them in a commonly used term.

Did they live together always?

As destiny would have it’s way, they parted announced without any particular reason but as much as I could feel their soul connection, I am sure my friend was able to recognise that their physical togetherness could hinder the physical progress of the other part of her soul connect. She decided to let the other half grow.

They departed with not even good byes, as the souls knew that it was not meant to be a good bye. They had to connect again after many years of distance and they did. That is what I call a soul mate and soul connection.

Is soul connect all about reincarnation?

Reincarnation is the cycle of rebirth till Moksha is gained. Is reincarnation mandatory for the soul mates to meet? If we look into the descriptions of soulmates we will find various references to reincarnation. If I ask myself about my beliefs in reincarnation and soulmates, I would say that I believe in one more very important connection which has to do something with the connection of our souls related to our previous births and that is the “Karmic Connection of Souls”.

What is “Karmic Connection” of Souls?

I have no theory behind my belief but I believe in the theory of a “Soul tribe”. The souls connect with each other and these are those souls which have a deep “Karmic Connection” with each other. They connect to clear the “Karmic Debt” to each other. I have so many relationships where I feel that I have not gained anything emotionally or spiritually from them but just given away the pieces of my inner peace to them. These are the souls from my soul tribe whom I owe a lot from the previous births and wish to clear all my debts so that my soul gets freedom from the connection with them. These souls have taught my physical being patience so that I can survive every pain to get rid of their debt. Keeping this in view now I can claim that the soul connect is all about reincarnation. Reincarnation is a huge concept in Hinduism with a belief in seven levels of reincarnation.

Soul Mate the mirror of your unseen self

Soul mate is the mirror of who we were and what we have become. They are the anchors to pull us back to our real spiritual self without their physical presence 24/7. Their disappearance for a while gives our soul a chance to clear off the Karmic debts with others so that when the two finally return together they are free of all debts and ready to meet at an exalted spiritual base which is way beyond all that is physical and worldly.

The Concept of Twin Flame

When the soul mates, after clearing all karmic debts meet for the last time they can be considered, “Twin Flames”.

These are souls in an enlightened state. Spiritualists claim that “Twin flames” are very rare to find. They meet each other in their first incarnation to remember the frequency of each other’s soul and keep meeting till they click to the perfection level of their frequencies. Finally when they are then reunited for the last time on this planet earth, others can clearly see the “two bodies, one soul” in them.

Do bad relationships help bringing Soulmates together?

All of us look for happy and perfect relationships in life but not always everything goes well and we find ourselves in real bad situations. These situations are created by bad relationships in our lives. Should we hate them, just because they are cause negativity in our lives?

No, my viewpoint regarding this is, that such relationships must be tolerated and treated with utmost respect so that we clear off our Karmic debt towards them and be free of them as soon as possible. Only if we would be free of their debts, could we meet our Twin Soul for eternity.
Thomas Moore said,” A soul mate is someone to whom we feel profoundly connected, as though the communication and communing that take place between us were not the product of intentional efforts, but rather a divine grace. This kind of relationship is so important to the soul that many have said there is nothing more precious in life."
I end with a prayer
"May you clear your Karmic debts,
with utmost sincerity and unrest.
May you meet your twin flame,
shimmering in all its glory.
For you are born to be one,
Today, tomorrow or whenever,
Pray that the day will soon come.
Amen."

Have you found your soul mate? Are you getting ready for the ultimate reunion with your "Twin Flame"?

Welcome The Dark Wanderer

"The Dark Wanderer"

Hi,
This is my second post in this blog, and I am not proud but ashamed of this fact, because I had planned to write one post every alternate day to keep my life going, somehow due to a long pending visit to one of the most revered temples in North India, I was out of net connectivity for a while. So now I am back with a fresher mind and a new outlook towards life.

Let me begin with a few questions today....
  • Do you think of yourself to be a good person?
  • Are you a person who likes to see goodness in everyone around?
  • Have you ever realized that howsoever nice, bright and positive person you might be but there are certain moments when you are at your worst, emotionally?
  • Have you ever tried to look for the reason for that negativity in yourself?
  • Have you ever felt disbelief seeing the negativity garnered inside you?
If your answer to the first two questions is yes and for rest a no, then either you are lying or you have not spent any time with yourself to analyze your inner self.

This picture is the million dollar question and the key to the basis of our personality and our level of awareness about our true selves.

Personally speaking I don't think we need a mirror to know who we are because if we are self aware, we know it very well about the innermost aspects of our personality. The pros and cons of our emotions and mindsets.

So what is wrong with us?

Take it this way, one fine morning after a deep slumber of self ignorance suddenly you wake up (I call it shedding my ego) you question yourself if there is something wrong with your own basics that is causing chaos with your life and emotions?

At this point of time when we are face to face, with our inner self, we have that grab and run moment which can actually change our lives. Unfortunately, we don't find such moments to be pleasing and comfortable ones, as we presume them to be.

This is the point where we get into a denial mode, which instantly blocks our clarity of mind and thoughts. We unconsciously get inside a cocoon to defend ourselves.

Yes, we lie to ourselves as we defend ourselves and the worst thing is that it is defending not from the negativity inside us but from the powers outside and all around us which push us to a dark corner where we cannot find anything else but negativity and toxicity. Our feelings about everyone gets engulfed in negative thoughts and we block our vision to see any sort of goodness in anybody.

Who is this Dark Wanderer within us?

We are all human beings with certain unannounced moments standing face to face with the dark wanderer within ourselves. Who is this dark wanderer, who attacks us from the unseen internal cracks in our existence.
I have faced many such scary moments in my life. Did I say scary? Oh! yes, because I was afraid to acknowledge that I can ever find so much of darkness hidden inside me. I refused to accept the fact that there can be such moments when I would be so weak that something in me would refuse to recognise my own self. I had been scared to face my darker version all through but the moment I decided to uncover, acknowledge and face that darkness, I saw the light within me.

How to befriend that dark wanderer inside you.

Who doesn't want to grab the sparks of positivity and hope? We all wish to reach for the light , but the most complicated task is to learn to connect to your dark version. Here are a few pointers which help me off and on when I tend to get lost in the vulnerable moments full of nasty talk, toxicity spread all around me.

Give a name or personality to your dark self

The first step towards facing your darkness is to befriend it. No, this is not that crazy an idea as you are thinking it to be. I really mean it.
Thinking of our darkness as part of our being is like facing it without any defensive thought. I realized that addressing my darker inner version with a kind of personality made things easier for me. I call my darkness "The dark wanderer", because it's difficult to control this dark nomad inside me. Like an unseen obsessive traveller, it keeps coming and going in and out of me.
The moment I gave my dark wanderer a touch of life, it made a sort of connection with the brighter side of me. My dark wanderer, I realise is nothing else but a shadow of me which at times engulfs me and takes me into its dark folds of lifelessness and depression.

Why my dark wanderer makes me suffer?

This darkness which encompasses a part of us is something we all want to avoid as it is heart wrenching and painful. Another fact to be considered is that it is painful and tormenting because somewhere it is linked to a part of us, which we consider murky and shameful.
This darkness has an indirect or direct connection with certain inner wounds of ours which we find difficult to acknowledge. These are the wounds which make us feel vulnerable and weak, thus we don't accept them.
These wounds might be due to any reason, but they hurt so we disown them, resulting in tormenting ourselves all the more. This disowning of a part of our selves causes our fall from one slippery road to darkness leading to another.

Is it safe to tame this Dark Wanderer?

We need to understand one thing that light and darkness are two opposing ideas yet so connected to each other that can't be thought of without each other. They exist because they are related to each other. If we refuse to acknowledge and embrace our dark side we will never be able to enjoy and relish the brighter side of us.
Looking for the dark wanderer inside us might be dangerous. If we are not able to own it as a part of us, there are chances of incurable depression. But if once we come to terms with these dark crevices of our inner self then no one can stop the bright light at the end of the dark tunnel, which is the ultimate path of reaching the state of self awareness and enlightenment of our soul.

Acceptance is the key to happiness in life

Acceptance is the best option when you are stuck, it can be acceptance of your failure, acceptance of loss or any such thing that hinders your progress towards betterment in any direction.
If we are looking for a rewarding and fulfilling life, then accepting the darkness inside us and analysing the reasons of it's existence is the only way.
Acceptance is the only way to get healed of many past wounds and grow above shallow things in life.
Till I come back with another thought rumbling of mine here I leave you with Carl Jung......

Have you met the dark wanderer inside you? Do comment how do you handle your darkness.

Invoking Kali, The Destroyer

Invoking Kali, The Destroyer

My other blog "LIVE LOVE DIE" on WordPress which was lying defunct for the last almost an year, got me thinking of a friend, who had once suggested to change the title of the blog to "Live Love Immortalize". I had been contemplating about that but somehow something in me couldn't agree to the suggestion.
Death is the new beginning of a new life so I cannot disrespect it. So today on Maha Ashtami I invoke Maha Kali, who for me has always been the strongest symbol of the power of a woman and her destructive powers. The destruction which is not a negative thing but the most positive force as without it, a new beginning is impossible.

The invocation

I bow to thee Maha Kali and invoke thee to make my effort to be a self aware person a success. Grant me the power to come out of the deep dungeons of darkness and fill my soul with the bright light of your blessings.
This blog is an effort to find answers to the basic questions of living and surviving, through which I hope to help myself and many others who are questioning the purpose of their existence.

If you are like me who has nothing but HOPE in life, then this is the place for you to dwell on your thoughts. Open up here and let me know how you survived despite all odds, let the world know the story of your strength, help others who are looking for some emotional support. Be that tiny stream of light coming from the chinks of despair and depression.
So cheers to all "The Thought Rumblers" like me... Come on brave ones let's all survive and thrive together, because good things are going to happen. Cheers.

Do you have a story to share? We are listening... :)
